Introducing
A Truly Affordable and easy to
install
Remote Control Wall Switch.
Not
just any wall switch! Remote
Control Wall Switch!

JDO
Stylo is an entirely new
generation of wall switch. Not
only it is aesthetically designed;
its usage is simple. With the
device, one no longer needs
to walk to the wall switch in
order to control lighting in
her/his environment. Instead,
controlling lighting is a mere
click on the hand-held remote
controller.
JDO Stylo's benefits are not
limited to its usage. The single
most important fact is that
the installation is so simple.
Installing it is a breeze!!
Just replace the existing mechanical
wall switch with Stylo and it
is ready to go. No messy rewiring,
no hacking of walls and thus
no expensive renovations to
restore paintworks! This definitely
benefits installers/specifiers,
home & building owners and
office occupants alike. It offers
maximum flexibility and convenience
in most lighting applications,
from homes, auditoriums, hotel
rooms, conference rooms to offices,
etc. And what's more, it works
with practically all lamp types.
JDO Stylo offers
the ideal solution if your life-style
demands the most from your living
and working environment.

Note
:-
- Low voltage
limit applicable for filament
lamps only. For fluorescent
lamps, lower limit depends
on starter characteristics.
- Fluorescent
lamp with magnetic ballast,
may work with some electronic
ballast.
- The channel
setting for each switch has
a factory default setting,
1 for single gang and 1 &
2 for dual gang respectively.
Users can reuse any of the
4 channels for each room as
the infra red signal cannot
go through opaque walls.
- The above specifications
and design are subject to
change without prior notice
for continuous improvements.

JDO Stylo Frequently Asked Questions
- Can
this switch work with fluorescent
lighting, halogen lamp, PL,
PLC, SL type and other energy
saving lamps?
Yes, it
can. We have fully tested
this switch with all above
lamp types and our switch
works fine with them. (We
even have customers who use
them for remote control their
ceiling fans).
- Does
this switch have any limitation?
Yes, in
some FL tube with electronic
ballast, it may not work well.
Also, this switch is not design
to work with some industrial
used lamps such as sodium
lamp and high pressure mercury
vapour lamps. Therefore these
application are not recommended.
- How
to I make the wire connection
in installation?
The wire connection is exactly
the same as with normal mechanical
switch, i.e., the incoming
LIVE wire goes to the Terminal
marked IN, the outgoing wire(s)
goes to Terminal marked L1
and L2 (for dual gang switch)
respectively.
- How
do I set up the RC channel
in the switch?
There are 4 available channel
settings for each channel,
the default factory setting
is at channel 1 & 2 (for
dual-gang). To change to other
channel, change the position
of the jumper at the RC channel
selector to the required channel.
- How
do I connect if the wire size
is too big for the connector
available at the switch?
To make connection easier
for big wire size, it may
be necessary to use an intermediate
terminal block to connect
to the existing wall wiring.
- When
I use the switch with 32 W
Fluorescent tube, during switching
off, the fluorescent light
take some time before it goes
off completely, why, can this
be eliminated?
This phenomenon only happens
for some low power Fluorescent
tube (<32W). For 40W tube
or more than one 32W tube
connected in parallel, such
phenomenon will not arise.
If such phenomenon occurs,
the simple solution is to
replace the Fluorescent light
starter with our starter A10
(provided for purchase made
beginning of year 2000).
- What
do I do if I need to change
bulb or service the light
fixture, do I need to switch
off the MCB?
For safety reason, when servicing
the light fixture, the light
fixture must be completely
isolated. This can be done
by either switching off the
lighting circuit MCB, alternatively,
you can pull the fuse drawer
(located at the bottom edge
of the switch) out to break
the circuit. When the fuse
drawer is pulled out completely,
the light fixture is completely
isolated.
- Can
I use a mixture of different
types of lamp types for a
single switch?
Yes you can, but bear in mind
the maximum load handling
capacity.
- What
is the maximum range of the
IR remote transmitter?
The RC transmitter may have
range up-to 80 feet in straight
line on axis, therefore for
indoor use, effective range
should not be a problem. However,
Infra red signal cannot penetrate
through walls.
- Will
the IR remote controller interferes
with other remote controller?
No, in general, interference
between different makes of
remote controllers will not
occur, because the infrared
signal is coded and modulated.
Properly designed RC systems
such as ours will not response
erroneously to any RC transmitter
other than its own.
- How
often is the need to change
battery in the remote controller?
Like other RC transmitters
used in other products, depending
on usage, it may last more
than a year or more before
change of battery is necessary.
- Does
this product need PUB / PSB
approval?
The JDO electronic switch,
like all other electronic
switches, e.g. dimmer, does
not belong to the prescribed
articles that require PUB
approval. Therefore approval
is not required for use.
- What
are the signs of incompatible
electronic ballast with the
JDO switch?
If electronic ballast is incompatible,
the fluorescent light will
flicker. There might be some
slight humming/buzzing sound
on either the fluorescent
light fitting. A sure and
easy way to get around this
problem is to control the
light via a relay. The relay
is to be installed inside
the light fitting and with
energising coil wired to the
RC switch.
- Is
this remote switch applicable
for a 2-way switch?
No, not as direct replacement.
However, in such situation,
we recommend that the 2-way
switch be replaced directly
by a RC switch in one position
and a RC transmitter in the
other position. The reason
2-way switch exists is to
allow control from a different
location. Since RC switch
achieves this function much
more elegantly that 2-way
switch, therefore direct replacement
is unnecessary.
- For
two-gang version, when the
light bulb in L1 circuit blow
or is removed, the L2 switch
also does not function, why?
The power supply for electronics
in the switch is derived from
L1 circuit, therefore light
bulb for L1 must be in place
for both switches to operate
normally. This means that
if L1 bulb blows or is removed,
L2 will not operate, however,
if L2 bulb blows, L1 will
still operate normally.
- Is
there a recommended way to
wire up the dual-gang switch?
Yes, if you are using Fluorescent
lamp. For best performance,
if you are using fluorescent
light, this light should be
connected to L1 circuit and
this fluorescent light starter
should be replaced with the
starter (A10) provided. For
L2 circuit, A10 starter is
not required.
